We have prepared answers to some of Frequently Asked Questions (also known as FAQs). They are listed below. If for some reason you still are having problems please email the appropriate FaceChipz help department listed in the About Us section.
FaceChipz.com permits users between the ages of 7 and 17.
Yes you do. Many of our users are 13 and under - we set the system up to cater to them. Children have to consult with their parents because there is a $1 membership fee and they need their parents to register.
Yes, you can choose your own username during registration.
No, your Username is NOT case-sensitive.
Yes, your Password is IS case-sensitive.
Once you have chosen your username and completed the signup process, you CANNOT change it, so choose wisely. If at some point FaceChipz enables kids to change their usernames we will post an announcement on the site.
Yes, after you complete the signup process, you can change your password. If you forget your password and we send you a new one, you might want to change that to something more familiar to you. If your password was compromised by someone else you would also want to change it, or you might just want a new password.
If you lost or can’t remember your username or password go the main FaceChipz.com Home Page. Click on LOG IN at the top of the page. Under the BLUE LOGIN button just click on "Forgot your username or password" enter in your parent or guardian’s email and we will send them your username and password to pass along to you. After you are reunited with your password, if you’d like to change it to something easier to remember, click on the Settings tab at the top of your Profile Page. Type in the new password - confirm it and you’re ready to use it.
Ugh, we hate spam as much as they do! Accordingly, we DO NOT rent sell or disclose private information to any 3rd parties. Full details of this can be found in our Privacy Policy. (FaceChipz only retains parents email addresses NOT the children’s email addresses.) Your parent’s email address is stored in the FaceChipz secure database. We may use it to contact them regarding a privacy issue or to send you a new password.
If you have tried all of the above and still can’t login, contact FaceChipz Customer Service. It's helpful to us if you describe the specific problem and what operating system and browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome or Firefox) you are using when sending us messages about this.
Only a parent can suspend a kid’s account. To DEACTIVATE an account, the parent should log in using their own username and password. Select the account you want to eliminate and then click DEACTIVATE it. (Parents can also choose to turn "OFF" an account which essentially prevents a kid from logging in. Unlike DEACTIVATE where all account data is purged - OFF holds the data until the parent decides to turn back ON or DEACTIVATE the kid’s account.) Deactivating an account causes all personally identifiable information entered by the kid to be deleted from the FaceChipz database FOREVER.
FaceChipz offers users the option to register for a newsletter. This newsletter contains information about new features on the site and upcoming features and will be sent to users from time to time. Parents, if you would like your child to receive the FaceChipz newsletter, you may choose to enter your child's e-mail address at registration. However, children's e-mail addresses are not required to register on the site and will not be used for any purpose other than sending the FaceChipz Newsletter. If you choose to register to receive the newsletter, you may cancel the receipt of any future newsletters at any time.

If you delete a friend who had made comments on your profile page, you still would need to manually delete that user’s previous comments. Click on the RED X to select a message to delete. (Remember, you can only delete the messages that appear in your own profile.)

You can only see someone else’s friend if you have invited that person and he or she has accepted your invitation.

Back to TopYour user profile allows you to convey information about yourself (such as birthday,age, location, interests, etc) to others. You have full control over every part of your profile, so you can reveal as much or as little profile information as you wish.
No it is not, but a profile will have a more personal feel if one is included. Your friends may not recognize the username you chose when joining FaceChipz.com but they will recognize your photo!If kids are concerned about their privacy, they can post the default avatar instead of a personal picture.
You can change your Profile Photo by just clicking on it and following the upload prompts.
Yes you can. If you are concerned about a particular person viewing your profile, the best remedy is to remove them as a friend. There is an "unfriend" link on all profiles. In all cases there is a confirmation step to make sure you do not accidentally remove someone. Alternatively, you can delete certain individual posts and pictures by clicking on the "x delete" link located on either the picture or beside the comment. Remember, when you perform deletions - NO ONE (including YOU) will be able to view those particular posts and pictures after they are deleted.
To edit your "about me," click the cursor and the text box will highlight. Make your changes/additions. When you are finished typing and ready to post, just click off of it and your information will be saved.

Yes, you can change the theme of your Profile Page. To access the Theme Machine, at the bottom of your page click on the Color Pallet tab. Click through the themes, and they will preview for you. Once you have selected one you like then just exit the customizer bar and your theme will save. (Some of the themes are free, and some you need to use your FaceChipz coins to buy. The prices for themes are posted under each frame.)

Only people who you have extended an invitation to can add comments to your Profile Page.
Presently you can comment on the profile pages, Gifts and individual images/photos.
No, you cannot, so be sure you check the spelling, content and layout of your comment before submitting it. Once you are happy with it, press the Add Comment button.
No, but you could always ask the friend who you sent it to, to delete the comment.
Only people you are friends with who are also fans of that page can see your comments.
Back to TopAll of your friends can view messages posted in the Comments sections, whereas, messages sent (and received) via Mail are private - which means only you and the person you sent the messages to can see them.
You can only send messages to people who you have been linked with on FaceChipz - and ONLY after both parties have registered.
Some kids sites employ what is called "white list," or "pull-downs" (off pull-down menus) which means all communications between friends occur through pre-screened, predetermined text.Because FaceChipz users actually know who they are messaging with, and there is no chance of a stranger interacting with them, we let our users engage in "free chat." They can say whatever they want; just as long as they don’t use offensive language. (We deploy filters to screen for offensive language and images.) If a site user (even though they might be a friend) makes someone feel uncomfortable they can chose to remove the person as a friend and/or alert the FaceChipz site monitor.
The only way to prevent individuals from sending you internal messages is to remove them as a friend.
To avoid "inadvertent" spamming, you can only send one message at a time.
Currently you need to be logged into your account to check your messages. When you log in, there will be a balloon at the top of your screen with the number of messages you have in your inbox. If there is no balloon, then you have no messages.
No, only the member can see the message contents. However profile Comments are displayed in your profile for ALL your friends to see.
Yes. Periodically we will send users messages containing information about new releases. FaceChipz also contacts site users in the event of an improper use of the website.
Not in the formal sense. We have something called Comments. See above.
Fan Pages, while they do contain real information and photos, are resourced from other sites, and therefore the owners of said pages cannot see comments or messages that have been sent to them.
Back to TopAt this time FaceChipz only allows you to upload images/photos. We anticipate offeringvideo and music applications in the future. When they are ready to use we will post an announcement on the site.
The easiest way to learn how to upload photos is to ask someone you know who has done this before, (like your parents, an older sibling or your school computer teacher). If you want to learn for yourself it is pretty easy. At the top of your Profile Page, click on your little picture. On the pulldown menu select Photos. On the Blue photo bar click on "Add Photos". Depending whether you have a Mac or PC, follow the below steps.
Photo Uploading for PC Users
1. On Step 1 click the BROWSE button, this will bring up the File Upload window.
2. In the File Upload window, locate the folder in which you have saved your photos. On most Windows computers, this is the My Pictures subfolder located within your My Documents folder.
3. Highlight the folder and double-click to open it.
4. Locate the photo(s) in the folder by clicking through the images. If you stored your photos in a subfolder within My Pictures, just double click on that folder to open it. If you do not see images of your photos, change your view, following these steps:
5. In the File Upload window, click on the View Menu icon at the top right.
6. Select Thumbnails from the drop down list. You should now see small images of all of your photos.
7. Click once on the image you want to upload. The name you assigned to that image will appear in the Filename box.
8. For step 2 -- Select an Album. Either select an existing album or create a new album.
9. Step 3 -- Photo Info is optional. If you like type in your photo's title and description in the fields provided.
10. Finish your upload by clicking the UPLOAD.
Photo Uploading for MAC Users

FaceChipz accepts photos in jpg, gif, and png format.
Yes, but you must save them on your computer first before they can be uploaded. Eventually you will be able to email the pictures from your camera phone. We are working on this feature and will let you know as soon as it is ready.
They are stored on FaceChipz server. (A server is an Internet computer storage devise.)
For Privacy reasons, we do not allow any pictures to be downloaded from the site. (You can delete pictures, but just not download them.)
Yes. For technical reasons we have a file size restriction of 5MB per file. If your image is larger than 5MB it will not upload; we suggest using the resize capability for that one image in the upload tool or do it yourself in an image processing program to reduce the file to lower than 5MB.
Back to TopYes, FaceChipz has built in parental controls that allow parents or guardians to update their email address and change their password; manage their kids accounts by turning the accounts on or off; and create additional accounts.
Parents can easily access the Parental Controls by going to the main FaceChipz.com home page; clicking on LOG IN at the top of the page. When the Login module appears, login using YOUR username and password (not your child’s). Click Login and you will be taken to the Parental Controls section.
Parents, we suggest you keep your keep your email address up to date in case FaceChipz needs to contact you. Your email address is also used to send your child their account information (i.e. username and password) in the event that they request it. To change the address, click on ACCOUNT SETTINGS. Clear the current email address and type in the new address. Type in your current password and then click the green SAVE button to confirm it.
If your password becomes compromised, you may create a new one. To change your Password, click on ACCOUNT SETTINGS, type in the new password, then do it again to confirm it. At the bottom of the module type in your current password and click the green SAVE button.
If your kid hasn’t been taking out the trash, isn’t turning in his/her homework or maybe is spending too much time online, you may want to temporarily turn "OFF" his/her account. Turning OFF essentially prevents a kid from logging in. Unlike a DELETE, where all data is purged - turning OFF holds the kid’s data until the parent decides to re-activate or permanently DELETE the kid’s account. To turn OFF an account, simply slide the button to OFF, (it will turn red). To re-activate an account, simply slide the button to ON.
Adding additional kids to the account is easy. To add more kids, click on PARENTAL CONTROLS and enter your user name and password. At the bottom of the module click on the blue "ADD KID" button. When the "ADD KID" module appears just fill in the required information and then click the green "Add" button.
Parents who have already signed up one kid do NOT need to give their consent again when adding additional children to the account. Your initial registration covers this process. Since you have already agreed to the Terms of Service, you do not need to agree to them again.

Yes. FaceChipz.com is only open to kids who are at least 7 years of age. If you believe a site user is under 7 years of age, or misrepresenting their age, please advise us of the username of the user in question and why you believe they are underage.
Yes. FaceChipz.com does not accept site users who are 17 years of age or older. If you believe a user is over 17 years of age, or misrepresenting their age, please send a message to the Content Monitor via the Notify FaceChipz alert button and advise us of the username of the member in question and why you believe they are over the approved age. (Parent/Guardian users who monitor their child’s account are permitted.)

After they are signed up, kids create their own unique homepage where they are able to chat with friends, post pictures, collect gifts and do other cool stuff.
Once their account is set up, they can invite their friends to join them on FaceChipz!
The FaceChipz.com site has many features including: customizable Profile Pages, Commenting, photo uploading, status updates, My Friends, About Me section and GAMES!! Parents will appreciate the built-in Parental Controls which enable Mom or Dad to toggle on and off kids' use of the FaceChipz website (This comes in handy when they don't take out the trash or are neglectful of schoolwork)
FaceChipz reminds parents to instruct their children to be Be SAFE when visiting FaceChipz.com. Mom and Dad should also review with their kids the FaceChipz Code of Conduct, viewable in the Safety section.
